The place

The plain that never ends, and the herds that never stop.

Serengeti means siringet — the place where the land runs on forever. It is the stage for the Great Migration, where nearly two million wildebeest and zebra move in a slow clockwise circle chasing the rains, and with them the lions, cheetahs and hyenas that shadow the herds.

We time your days to where the drama is: calving on the southern short-grass plains between January and March, the dramatic river crossings of the Grumeti and Mara from June, and the quiet, cat-rich central Seronera all year round. Camps range from classic tented luxury to mobile camps that move with the migration itself.

When to visit

Timing your visit

The dry season from June to October brings the best game viewing and the river crossings in the north. The green season (November–March) is quieter, greener and hosts the calving — spectacular for predators and photographers.
